Halloween Nail Art Challenge: Favorite Mani!

Happy Halloween!!

Hiya beautiful! Today's challenge is a fun one, which is nice since it's the last day of the challenge! It's been super fun and I've really enjoyed seeing everyone's interpretations of the prompts this entire month!! Thanks so IsaBella and Theo who helped bring this all together!

I decided to do something new and fun that I've been wanting to try and just didn't have time to put together until now. Sugar Skulls! I've seen these around and there was an awesome one on Instagram recently but I can't find it to reference now. =/

Those teeth suck! I tried to keep fixing them but it got worse. I think these would have been better if I had stopped the skull above the teeth. Lesson learned. I need smaller brushes or bigger nails. Otherwise I think they're fun!

LensVillage Dueba Crystal.i In Violet Review

Hiya beautiful! I've got something a little out of the mainstream nails and makeup that I normally talk about.

Recently I was able to try some lenses from LensVillage.com, an online e-tailer for circle lenses. They offer up to 400+ designs and colors. The products they carry are all Korea Food Drug Administration (FDA) certified brand lenses. They carry GEO Medical, EOS, Dueba, and Vassen.

I've been interested in circle lenses for awhile so I picked up a violet pair of lenses. I used to wear colored contacts and I loved how they changed my look and opened up my eyes! My small eyes seem smaller with dark brown eyes, so with a lighter color eye, it really makes a huge difference! While it's harder to wear light contacts on dark eyes (I'll never have baby blues or crystal green), if I choose a darker color, they look more natural. I can generally pull off violet, dark blue, dark green, and gray colors and not have them look super crazy!

The violet ones I am wearing below are the Dueba Crystal.i Violet

I did order the 14.2mm diameter, which is on the smaller end of what you can order. You can go all the way up to 16.5mm diameter to really enlarge your eyes. I've also heard the bigger they are, the more irritation you'll have at the beginning because your eye isn't used to having something that size on it (even if you wear regular contact lenses). Being that I have small eyes and I'm new to these, I went with the smallest options so they wouldn't be quite so dramatic. I'm so glad I did! I don't know if I could go larger in diameter or else I'd never get them in!

My eyes aren't symmetrical at all, which is why on my EOTD I only post one eye, my "good" eye! =P I tried to take some pictures with both that aren't 100% straight on so you can see the difference these contacts make.

When I first put them in, they were really irritating, like I had something under my contact or something was scratching my eye. After a few minutes, they felt fine. I wore them for about 5 hours the first time and I didn't need any rewetting drops for comfort. They grew more comfortable but I always could tell I was wearing contacts.

My husband really liked these on me. They looked fairly natural and the color let enough of my brown through that the violet looked natural.

Overall, I really enjoyed these contacts. They were comfortable and natural looking, despite being violet, and they really opened up my eyes.

A Rhyming Dictionary Swatches!!

I simply adore Morgan's creations and I recently got some in the mail and wanted to show them to you! I have four to show you today!

A Rhyming Dictionary Zella is a great black, white, and light and medium green glitter in a clear base. I really like this one but I had the hardest time picking a base color for it. Black and white colors lose some of the glitter and anything light or green loses the other colors, so brown it was!

A Rhyming Dictionary Diksey Horner is a red, yellow, and blue glitter in a clear base. The red and yellow really predominate with scattered larger blue glitter. It can look really rusty orange from afar so I thought putting it on a neutral base would bring out the primary colors.

A Rhyming Dictionary Mister Yoop is a gorgeous mixture of blue, pink, and purple with holo glitter in a light pink base. Gorgeous! I was most excited about this one!!

A Rhyming Dictinonary Cor is a gorgeous light blue glitter with irregular yellow shards. For some reason, this reminded me of bluebonnets... Anyway, gorgeous glitter and very visually interesting with the irregular yellow pieces.

Halloween Nail Art Challenge: Halloween Character

Hiya gorgeous! We're getting closer to the end, and today's prompt is much more open. It's favorite character.

I tried to think who was my favorite Halloween character, and I really didn't have one. So I perused the world wide web for inspiration, and I happened upon an awesome mani. While it didn't turn out as good as Simply Rins' Frankensteins, I like it!

I wanted to come up with something really unique and fun with the Bride of Frankenstein, but I ran out of time. I went to hand out candy at a local community Halloween Carnival and I was not dressed appropriately for 30-40 degree weather (Fahrenheit!) So my poor hands and cuticles are D-R-Y. I sowwie. I'm moisturizing like crazy!!

Sinful Colors Precious Metal

I grabbed this while out of town a few months ago (or so? I'm losing track of time!) and I thought it'd be a nice background for some bats stamping, which turned out to be a huge FAIL.

Sinful Colors Precious Metal is a gorgeous deep metallic blue that starts out sparse but is opaque in three coats. Sinful Color is notorious for putting already sold colors in "new" displays and marketing them as a seemingly new release. I found this in the Metallic Display, but I couldn't tell you certainty if this is a new release or not. All I know is, it's new to me and I found it with the metallic collection! =)

Too many long posts recently, so this one will be nice and short. Great formula, gorgeous color.

Doesn't stain your cuticles or nail beds.

WIN.

Catrice Heavy Metallilac

I've had this one in my stash for awhile and I'm just now pulling this baby out. I could kick myself. It's a gorgeous, gorgeous color. Thank you to Theo for sending it during our swap!!

Catrice Heavy Metallilac is a GORGEOUS medium purple shimmer duochrome that flashes light purple and pink in the light. Self-leveling, great formula. Two coats for perfect opacity. I tried to take pictures in different lighting so you can get a good idea of just how breathtaking this polish looks!

Gorgeous, gorgeous polish. If I could have one polish for the rest of my life, this is definitely in the top 5 running for that position.

Thank you again Theo! =*

Halloween Nail Art Challenge: Mummy

Hiya beautiful! It's no surprise what I'm doing today - halloween nail art!

Today's prompt is Mummy, which I've been dying to try since I saw the post by Simply Rins. (Have you noticed my slight obsession with her nail art?) I know these are likely the most popular mummy design around, but I saw her post first, which is why I'm crediting her on this.

Milani Eyeliners

I love Milani products. Lip gloss and nail polish specifically, but I'm trying to branch out more into their other cosmetics. I've heard a lot of good things about their Liquif'Eye eyeliner pencils, so whilst browsing one day, I grabbed one and a liquid eyeliner. I grabbed the basics, and black and a brown, because really, can you have too many black or brown eyeliners? I think not.

Some quick hand swatches before the individual stuff!

Milani Liquif'Eye Brown (left), Milani Infinite Liquid Liner in Everlast (right)

Milani Liquid Eye in Brown (pencils says Milani Liquif'Eye Metallic Eye Liner Pencil - color me confused) is a gorgeous medium brown coppery pencil that glides on like a dream. I've heard them compared to Urban Decay 24-7 Liners, which I must say, they do remind me of them. Color applied great with silky precision and color payoff was great, no tugging or pulling or going over the same place time and time again to get some color on the lid.

According to the packaging, this liner boasts all day wear and smudge-proof. Um, stop. I wore it to work one day over primer (one that went on way too cakey as you can see above) and by lunch it was smudging a bit and by the end of the day (I was too busy to look in a mirror that afternoon) and I had it halfway down my face. Thanks for mentioning it co-workers! While it applied like a dream I'm not sure it ever set. While I love my smooth liners, I'm not a fan of one that runs. Maybe it was the primer? I haven't had another day to wear liner that I haven't been at work (and I'm not going to have raccoon eyes if I can help it) so the testing continues...

Milani Infinite Liquid Eye Liner in Everlast is a rich black liquid eyeliner. Great dark color payoff, precise application, and no stinging involved while it set. I have trouble with some liners having too much alcohol in them so when they're wet they sting like crazy before they dry and I sit and fan my poor tearing eyes until the liner is set. Not with this one!

According to the package, this liner is waterproof, color intense, smudge and smear-proof and gives you 24 hour long wear. It does have great color pay off - nice rich opaque black - and the brush gives you very exact lining (great for those with small eyes, like myself!!). I like this as much as my Urban Decay 24/7 Liquid Liner in Perversion - only MUCH cheaper!

By the way, Milani, THANK YOU for putting out drugstore makeup that is individually packaged to I know when I open an eyeliner to put on my eyes (or hand for swatching) I know it doesn't have the germs of a hundred other people on it from being tested in the stores.

Color Club Halo Hues + Giveaway

Finally, right?

I had to wait for a sunny day to swatch these babies, and boy did they not disappoint! It ended up taking me two days to do them all since the sun kept dodging me, but I wanted to get these to you quickly!

Color Club Halo Hues (with flash)

This is going to be a pic heavy post (sorry!) so I'm not going to talk a lot. I will say the formula on these is amazing: easy to use; doesn't run, pull, or bald; and is opaque in TWO coats. Top coat doesn't dull them. I took some shots with Seche Vite and Posche on two nails and I lost track of them because you couldn't tell a difference. Hehe, oops! I also used Total Nail RX Build Me Up Nail Hardener as a basecoat (ie a regular basecoat) so no special/aqua basecoat needed! The ones I wore longer than just swatching didn't chip in 24 hours, which is about 20 hours longer than my other holos so I'm sold!

Color Club Angel Kiss is a light seafoam green holographic polish.

Color Club Angel Kiss (two coats)

Color Club Angel Kiss (two coats)

Color Club Blue Heaven is a light blue holographic polish. So pretty!

Color Club Blue Heaven (two coats)

Color Club Cherubic is a great neutral holo. A work appropriate holo? Yes please! This one doesn't show my as holo because I was losing the sun, so these are pictures in semi-shade. The holographic flame is still super evident, so please don't think this one isn't as holo.

Color Club Cherubic (two coats)

Color Club Cloud Nine is a beautiful lilac holo. Maybe my favorite of the collection. I am a purple lover though. =P

Color Club Halo-graphic is a baby pink holo.

Color Club Harp On It is a silver holo. This color has been done quite a bit, but I don't have anything this holo in my stash. I did get my hands on China Glaze OMG which I bet is super close, so if you can't get a bottle of that HTF polish - you'll LOVE this one. Even though they're more expensive than their usual polishes, $8 or $10 is MUCH better than $80 for CG OMG.

Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous colors! If you have the chance to get them, don't hesitate! These will be hard to find soon, so don't miss out.

You can purchase them from www.ShopColorClub.com ($10/each), www.8ty8beauty.com ($8/each), or www.Head2toebeauty.com ($8/each).
