Lime Crime Once In A Blue Mousse + Dots!

Still working my way through the Lime Crime swatches ... =) I'm going to go back and add these to the original post as I get them done.

Lime Crime Once In A Blue Mousse is a fabulous robin's egg blue that applied like a dream. One coat is enough, but I did two for swatching purposes.

Lime Crime Once in a Blue Mousse

Lime Crime Once in a Blue Mousse

Lime Crime Once in a Blue Mousse

I'm trying to be creative and all that and do nail art with my polishes to show them off since my swatches aren't exactly the cat's meow and ya'll will just google or head over to Scrangie or Chalkboard Nails for better swatches, but in the moment, I can never think of anything interesting to do. So I do dots. haha

Then I decided I'd make it super abstract and add more color. That's where it all went wrong ... As I've mentioned before, Lime Crime Pastelchio tends to run a little with topcoat added. In an entire nail color it's fine, but adding it as an accent means it'll run into the other colors. See ...

I took pictures anyway but after that hot mess I took them off. I liked the blue and orange alone. I should do it again!

FOTD: Gold & Green Eyes

I've been on a gold and green kick as of late. I have no idea why. Maybe I'm ready to transition into fall? It's been chilly here lately. Back home in Texas it's in the 90s, here it's in the 60s. I'm not sure I'm going to make it this winter!

I chose to do a simple gold and green look that focused on the lid area and blended out the colors with my bronzer in the crease. I got that tip from Pixiwoo! Sam likes to blend out her smokey eyes with bronzer in the crease and I just figured, if it's good enough for smokey eyes, it's good enough for these! =P

Products Used:

Face:
- Rimmel Fix & Perfect Pro Primer 002
- Too Faced Amazing Face foundation in Warm Vanilla (stippled with Real Techniques buffing brush)
- Rimmel Natural Bronzer in Sun Bronze
- Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder in Translucent
Eyes:
- Urban Decay Midnight Cowgirl
- Urban Decay Bender
- Urban Decay Cobra
- Rimmel Natural Bronzer in Sun Bronze
- Revlon ColorStay Liquid Liner in Blackened Brown (that dang color lifting!)
- Fairydrops Scandal Queen Mascara in Black
Lips
- Urban Decay Lip Junkie in Midnight Cowboy

Urban Decay Lip Junkie in Midnight Cowboy is an awesome neutral, nude gloss with fine shimmer. It's in a great applicator so I can put it in my pocket to use throughout the day. It can get a little thick but if you use it sparingly, it goes on great. Not too sticky, but my hair will get caught in my pout if I'm not careful. It'll tone down any natural color you have so it's nice for a natural nude lip without having mannequin lips.

Barielle Dazzling Diamonds Collection

I have another 5-fer treat for you today! Barielle has another 5-pc collection out and this time it's GLITTER.

Barielle Dazzling Diamonds is a set of 5 glitters, four in a clear base and one in a tinted base. Most of them are ideal for layering but there is one that would be a nice full coverage glitter.

Barielle Cherry Sparkler is a hot pink glitter in a tinted pink base. The base will change the color of your base polish if you have something in a different color family or a light polish. Here I've used one coat over Barielle Life of the Party and three coats on a bare nail on the middle finger. You almost can't tell the difference with a base coat as the tinted base will also build opacity quickly.

Barielle Ebony Rainbow is a gorgeous multicolor (gold, blue, green, red, others?) glitter in a clear base. Here is one coat over Barielle Sunshine and three coats over clear polish on the index finger.

Barielle Pink Diamonds is a light pink dense glitter in a clear base. I think you could reach opacity on this one. Here is one coat over Barielle Gotta Have Fate. Ring finger has two coats to show it can reach opacity quickly.

Barielle Purple Hearts is a purple and silver glitter in a clear base. Here is one coat over Barielle Surf's Up.

Barielle Stardust is a beautifully dense iridescent green, blue, purple, and gold glitter in a clear base. Here is one coat over Barielle Lily of the Valley.

Barielle Stardust over Barielle Lily of the Valley

Just because these can look soooo different depending on what base color you choose I put one coat over black on a nail wheel just so you can get an idea of what they look like on their own over a dark base without other colors interfering with the polish. Sorry about the other colors in the picture! =P

Barielle Pink Diamonds, Ebony Rainbow, Cherry Sparkler, Stardust, Purple Hearts over black polish

Ebony Rainbow and Stardust really came alive over black. The individual colors came out, especially in Stardust!

If you're curious about the base polishes, they are from the Barielle Some Like It Hot collection, and you can see swatches of those colors alone here.

Available here at Barielle.com for $25 for the set of five polishes. All Barielle polishes are 3-free.

Currently, they are having a few goodies!

  • Buy 3 polishes, get a 4th free
  • Free shipping on orders $50+
  • Register to get 15% off your order
  • Monthly drawings to win free polishes! How cool is that?!?

Lime Crime Milky Ways + Essie Stroke of Brilliance

Lime Crime Milky Ways was the surprise of the collection. The other colors were all bright pastels but this one was the lone nude/neutral of the bunch. While not my favorite, it definitely ranks up there at the top!

BONUS! I used Essie Stroke of Brilliance on top and it was utterly beautiful!

Out of Town Haul

I went out of town recently for a family matter and I decided since I was going on a road trip back to Texas to stop at every Walgreen's and CVS on the way to see what I could find! Thankfully for my wallet there were only 2 on the road, and 2 within the vicinity of the hotel, so it wasn't toooooo bad, but I did find lots more than I was expecting!

I'm going to keep this short since there are a ton of items, but if you want to know the colors, let me know!

Haul at Walgreen's

I found a display of all the L'Oreal Project Runway LE polishes and ended up grabbing six. Then my husband said, you might as well get the other two. YES you are right! haha So I have all 8 even though 2 aren't that interesting to me. Some Wet N Wild Megalast lipsticks, Essie Mojito Madness, some Revlon Just Bitten Kissable balm stains, and new release Wet N Wild polsihes round out the mix.

Haul at a different Walgreen's
Here I found all the new LE Sally Hansen Diamond Strength polishes. Most are comparing these to the Color Club Take Wing collection. I'm working on swatches! The other Sinful colors looked interesting (I found Winterberry, yusssssssss) and that ugly brown in the corner said it was matte. I swatched it. It lied. It's not matte. =P:.

Haul at CVS
More Revlon Just Bitten Kissable balm stains because I love them. And they love me. And they were BOGO 50% off.

Just to add this one somewhere!

Haul at a dollar store down the street from my house
I went in search of glue (BEST.GLITTER.BASECOAT.EVER.) and perused the makeup aisle. Mostly I found stuff I wasn't interested in, and then I found the Wet N Wild section. They had some interesting things so I picked up a few.

This is what happens when you keep me from stores too long - I go crazy. I didn't even spot the new Sally Hansen duochrome polishes, and that's what I had actually been looking for. Oh well. Maybe this week!

And yes Vita, that Comfort Zone palette is for YOU!

Barielle Some Like It Hot Collection

If you follow me on Twitter or Instagram, then you know before I moved I had some Barielle collections come in the mail. I set them aside to play with and now that I'm organizing my stash, I found them! I feel so bad this is so late, but better late than never, right?

Barielle releases some awesome polish sets, and this collection is no exception. Some Like It Hot is a collection of five polishes, four cremes and one frost. Barielle polishes are 3-free and they sell hand, foot, and nail care products along with nail polishes!

Anyway, back to the Some Like It Hot Collection!

Barielle Gotta Have Fate is a bright coral orange creme with lots of pink. Looks almost like it'd be a jelly with how squishy it looks, but it's a creme. Two coats for full coverage. Great formula.

Barielle Life of the Party is a bright pink creme. Flawless. I am not a pink person, but this color is perfection. Richly pigmented, not too girly, bright enough to be a little kick ass. LOVE. Full coverage in one coat. ONE COAT.

Barielle Lily of the Valley is the odd shimmery frosty color in the group of cremes. It's a great emerald green that has a golden glow to it. Gorgeous. Very yellow leaning so I really like it on my hands! This one does stain a tad so be careful with application and removal. This one can go on a tad thick so being careful with application is a must as it will move and pool after it's applied.

Barielle Sunshine is a yolk-esque yellow with a hint of orange. This was a problem child for me. Seeing other reviews, people loved the formula, but it was thick and goopy for me. I will say that two of my bottles had opened during shipment, this being one of them, which likely affected the formula. You can tell in the top picture that I couldn't quite clean all of dried polish from the top. I may try thinning this out and using it again...

Barielle Surf's Up is a medium to dark rich blue creme that doesn't lean too red or yellow. This is a great polish but will stain your nails/cuticles so be careful with application and removal! Two coats for complete coverage.

Available here at Barielle.com for $25 for the set of 5 polishes. Polishes generally sell for $8/polish, so a set of 5 for $25 is awesome.

Sally Girl 812161 ... A fun bright orange

OK Sally Girl, if you're going to make fun polishes, give them some names! I don't understand why it's so hard to name polishes. Unless they can't fit names on those tiny bottles so the numbers are better ... That's a thought.

Anyway, this is the color I used in my recent Nail Fail: Hot Mess post. This was the color under the glitter.

Sally Girl 812161 is a super bright, neon orange. This was three coats. It dried quickly, no problems with application. There is still a visible nail line, which I didn't care about since it was getting covered with glitter. Probably some white "underwear" would have made it more opaque. It did dry darker than the bottle.

I purchased mine at Sally Beauty Supply, the sole retailer I believe. They are $0.99 for 5.3mL or 0.18 oz. which isn't bad when you divide how much it costs per ounce. It's cheaper than most drugstore brands of polish. Of course, it's more expensive than Wet n Wild, but they have crazy awesome polish for super cheap!

Have ya'll gotten any of these Sally Girl polishes? Do you like them? I've gotten a couple, but mostly for extra goodies in giveaway packages and swaps. This is the only one I've actually used. It wasn't bad but wasn't awesome. Any thoughts?

Essie Sand Tropaz

Today will be super quick since most of you know this color already. I used it a ton during the Summer Nail Art Challenge and it's a favorite nude of mine.

Essie Sand Tropaz is a gorgeous, medium nude that leans a little yellow. Great formula, full coverage in two coats (possilbly a one coater if you have a heavy hand and apply a single thick coat).

BareMinerals Liner Shadow in Fashionista

I've been trying to use more of my makeup in an effort to keep me from buying more. I have a few older BareMinerals products my mother purchased awhile back and I "inherited" them. Meaning, she was cleaning out her makeup bag and I got all the stuff that was purged. We tend to do that.

BareMinerals Liner Shadow in Fashionista

BareMinerals Liner Shadow in Fashionista is a dark brown shadow meant for lining your eyes (obviously, eh?). I didn't use this much because I wasn't sold on the shadow liner bit and I don't use dark colors on my eyes that often. I never really did understand what the difference was between the liner shadows and eye shadows...

BareMinerals Liner Shadow in Fashionista, dry on left, wet on right

I have been using my Real Techniques brushes as of late (love!) and I used the eyeliner brush and I realized I could get a nice thin line with it. I have small eyes, so it's crucial I have the ability to make a small line and build on it, because a single swipe of eyeliner too thick can ruin my makeup completely.

BareMinerals Liner Shadow in Fashionista

It's so strange. It looks really red on me. Like an auburn eyeliner. I like it regardless. It's natural and easy to apply. I will wet my brush, dip it into the powder, and then swirl it on the cap to make a paste, and then apply. (I know what some of you are thinking - it's red because your picture is likely too warm/orange. I did adjust for indoor lighting and the whites of my eyes look normal and not orange/red so I believe this picture should come through the monitor as fairly color accurate. No promises though!)

BareMinerals Liner Shadow in Fashionista

I've really gotten into eyeliner lately. My daily makeup routine is super simplified and I don't wear mascara anymore, which means I needed something else to define my eyes, or else I look like a zombie all day!

This wears really well, the color stays true for a good amount of time (after a 12 hr day it is fading a bit), it doesn't run with oily lids (score!). I can't comment on waterproofness since I haven't had any crying or allergy flares when I wear this, but overall I'm pleased.

I plan on wearing this a lot more since I don't have many dark brown liners and I think this matte brown would be great for blending eye looks since most of my eyeshadows are shimmery. Multitasker!

I snooped around the web for this product, and I think it's been discontinued. I think any shadow from BE can sub as an eyeliner, so I'd recommend them for lining! I do love a product that has multiple uses!

P.S. Another plus is that these are great when traveling because they don't go in your liquids bag and all you need is water to make them an eyeliner. I personally take as much BE makeup as I can on a trip because it's easier to pack/travel with and they don't take up room in that precious bag of mine. I also use BE mineral foundation in my own travel sized moisturizer to make my own cream foundation. Sneaky!! If you have any questions about this last paragraph, or the post in general, let me know!

Shimmer Stephanie

I have another lovely Shimmer Polish for you today.

Shimmer Stephanie is a densely packed glitter, predominately dark blue, with silver, red, green, and a light sprinkling of more colors most likely!

Shimmer Stephanie
Shimmer Stephanie

This polish applied beautifully. Maybe it's the glitter that makes it thick and place well, but I have never had issues with pooling, running, or streaking with these polishes. This is important in a glitter since they can be sooo hard to clean up (more on this in a future post!).

Shimmer Stephanie
Shimmer Stephanie

I love the fact that Shimmer polishes have a predominate color, some supporting colors, and a smattering of a few other colors to make it that much more interesting.
